As
the clever and successful Koheleth, Solomon must have regarded the world,
as do so many inspirational writers, as a basically neutral environment
in which, by careful planning and the manipulation of the appropriate
variables, a determined individual can achieve whatever specific goals
he chooses to pursue.
The
world, however, is not that simple and many and varied forces are at work
– as will become apparent in this lengthy new section where Solomon
explores the scheme of things in this strange world and identifies important
understandings and principles of wisdom required by those wishing to operate
more effectively in it. |
